Cawar-Mobi@

What is Cawar-Mobi@

Cawar-Mobi@ is a location based information system with an integrated, enhanced search engine, developed using Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) at Lehrstuhl Prof. Broy of TU Munich. Using Cawar-Mobi@, a user can search for different places and locations within a city, for example restaurants or shops, but also other attractions like famous places within the city can be found. Cawar-Mobi@ belongs to a new category of search engines. These new engines assist the user as far as possible by making queries to the engine more precise with additional information not directly provided by the user. Additional information may be information about the current place the user is in. In a further step, also preferences of the user and the behaviour of other users in this situation will be taken in account.

The Vision behind Cawar-Mobi@

The vision for Cawar-Mobi@ is providing the user with information taking in account his actual context and his preferences without forcing him to formulate a query. Finding without searching.

New concepts introduced

  • New kind of search engine taking in account the current context of the user
  • Not limited to a concrete geographic location (like Munich). Cawar-Mobi@ can be applied to any kind of location. The size of the site is unimportant. (Germany / a city / a street)
  • Cawar-Mobi@ may be configured and changed by the user
  • Location based services with a J2EE application
  • Abstract interfaces to apply Cawar-Mobi@ in other scenarios like UMTS, i-Mode….
